Working safely with Treated Pine
Please follow these safety measures when working safely with Treated Timber:
- Do not burn preserved wood
- Wear a dusk mask and goggles when cutting or sanding wood
- Wear gloves when working with wood
- Wash hands after working with treated wood as some preservative reside may remain
- Do not use preserved wood where it may come into direct contact with food or drink for consumption (ie. water troughs, chopping boards, benchtops)
- Do not use preserved wood as mulch or animal shavings
- Disposal Recommendation: Preserved wood may be disposed of in landfills or burned in commercial or industrial incinerators or boilers in accordance with government regulations.
If you are required to cut preserved wood during use you must use an end-coat preservative as un-preserved heartwood may become exposed. Liberally coat cut surfaces with a product such as Reseal® or ask us about products we can supply.
